To provide CE&I Engineering design capability that supports the NNL CE&I project deliverable commitments.

To provide CE&I design support during the installation, testing and commissioning of NNL projects.

To support the development of the early careers team and act as a professional engineering ambassador for NNL.

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Risley, Sellafield or Preston.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Control, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer:

  • Deliver CE&I Design support to relevant internal, national, and international standards.
  • Deliver CE&I Design deliverables such as drawings, reports, calculations.
  • Provide CE&I Support to the commissioning teams.
  • Identify process improvements and share with Discipline lead Engineer.
  • Support CE&I design tasks and activities.
  • Support design reviews, HAZOPS and Project Feedback.
  • Support the Discipline Lead Engineer is promoting a collaborative approach.
  • Promote a culture of continues learning a development with the CE&I design team.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Control, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer:

  • HNC / HND in an Electrical Engineering discipline or closely related subject together with a good level of design office experience.
  • Working towards professional registration.
  • Understanding and experience following an accredited design / engineering process to deliver an assured design / system that meets all required statutory site and national safety standards. Including an understanding of the requirements of PUWER and UKCA marking.
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD together with Microsoft Office applications to provide fit for purpose engineered solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of using the EU directives, British Standards and company standards and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to enable fit for purpose engineered solutions, ideas, and concepts to be clearly communicated to customers, regulators, and key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience in system and component fault finding in operational active and non-active nuclear facilities, preferable in a similar regulated environment.
  • Provide fit for purpose engineered options and solutions from design and procurement through to return to operations to limit the time equipment is out of service due to faults, breakdowns or malfunctions.
  • Experience of safely delivering customers scopes of work to agreed schedules, this role will support that objective and be expected to proactively reduce the likelihood of non-delivery of customers scopes of work.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in the design, build, testing, installation, and commissioning of new plant systems and components, and modifications to existing systems and components, in active nuclear facilities.
  • Competent in electrical building services and electrical systems and components design and build to the relevant legislation and standards.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Control, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer:

  • Experience working in the nuclear sector, together with a working knowledge of Engineering Standards and Site License Conditions.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of using Sellafield Ltd Engineering Standards in the design process and the Sellafield site drawing registry.
  • Knowledge and experience in producing EC&I supporting calculations to relevant industry design standards i.e. EU directives, British Standards.
  • Capable of designing safety related systems to BS EN 61508, BS EN ISO 13849-1.
  • Knowledge and experience in the substantiation of systems and components designated as safety equipment in a safety case to safety related systems to BS EN 61508, BS EN ISO 13849-1
  • Knowledge of ElectrcialOM / AMTECH, Relux / Dialux software.
