Job Description for Junior Platform Engineer - End User Computing (EUC):

This role is flexible and can be based at Risley, Workington, Preston.

A member of the IT Service Delivery Team responsible for the maintenance and compliance of End User Computing (EUC) services using technologies such as Windows 10/11, Configuration Manager, Azure Services (Azure AD, Intune MDM) and hardware devices.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Junior Platform Engineer - End User Computing (EUC):

  • Supports the Senior Platform Engineer and the Head of IT Service Delivery in defining the appropriate standards, policies and procedures for EUC services and security.
  • Technical Expertise - Point of expertise for the team to resolve complex EUC queries, whilst acting as a bridge between Tier 1 and Tier 3 support on EUC security and project delivery. Provision of knowledge transfer/training to team members where appropriate on EUC security and project delivery.
  • Accountable for pro-actively improving processes & the production of technical documentation for Field Support & Service Desk on EUC services, security and project delivery.
  • Support the investigation, proof of concept and solution testing for all EUC improvements.
  • Provides service transition and support documentation to the FSE and SD teams.
  • Responsible for supporting EUC compliance policy setting and reporting against standards.
  • Responsible for the ongoing patching and updating of the deployment software catalogue.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Junior Platform Engineer - End User Computing (EUC):

  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
  • Experience of managing Windows 10 Endpoints using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM), including Intune and Configuration Manager.
  • Proven ability of implementing, managing, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Desktop OS deployment with Autopilot and associated services.
  • Packaging deployment and troubleshooting of software applications for Intune, including scripting and custom MSI compiling.
  • Experience working in a secure, accredited, or regulated environment.

Desirable Criteria for for Junior Platform Engineer - End User Computing (EUC):

  • Experience in working of Tier 2/3 Operational Support.
  • Experience of delivering IT solutions and projects.
  • An understanding of, or accreditation to, ITIL Foundation.
  • An understanding of Service Management including change, incident, and problem management as it applies to a secure corporate environment.
  • Experience of Azure Active Directory, M365, Defender for Endpoint services.
  • Experience of Endpoint Central, SCCM and vulnerability/threat management platforms.
  • Configuration, deployment and troubleshooting of compliance / configuration policies and scripts in Intune.
  • Experience and good understanding of security principles, firewalls, applocker, ASRs, patching, threat and vulnerability monitoring.
