The Post Operation Clean Out Operator will support the construction Engineer deliver “hands on” work packages dismantling and cleaning of decommissioned items for disposal, to the required time, cost and quality. The Post Operation Clean Out Operator will undertake Post Operation Clean Up (POCO) activities and support the Construction Engineer in meeting the Preston engineering team deliverables as set out in the Preston Facility work schedule.

The length of the fixed term contract is 18 Months for this role.

Role Responsibility

Main Responsibilities for Post Operation Clean Out Operator (POCO Operator):

  • Provide specialist Project services to internal / external customers
  • Conduct Post Operation Clean Out (POCO) activities including equipment disassembly and monitoring of equipment.
  • Actively lead the segregation, size reduction with tools and processing of waste in conjunction with building departments.
  • Contribute to the economic project delivery of systems and equipment from goods receipt to completion or removal supporting wider building teams where required.
  • Working with local AHP to meet compliance requirements.
  • Provision of installation, testing and commissioning documentation.
  • Demonstrable experience within nuclear decommissioning of plant.
  • Supporting Construction Engineer escorting contractors when required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Post Operation Clean Out Operator (POCO Operator):

  • Demonstrable decommissioning experience.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear plant operations.
  • Capable of attaining Radiological worker status.
  • Basic understanding of plant processes and systems within their area of work.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Post Operation Clean Out Operator (POCO Operator):

  • Time severed apprenticeship.
  • Nuclear process work experience.
  • Experience in escorting / supervising contractors.
  • Experience in radiological monitoring.
